NOTICE OF FEE INCREASES

Effective May 12, 2010, filing fees and other court costs increased substantially as the result of HB 1055 enacted by the Georgia General Assembly.  The costs for filing a civil action in superior court and state court increased $125.00.  The entire additional amount generated from superior court filings will be sent to the State of Georgia for funding judicial operations and, from state court filings, the state will receive $75.00 and $50.00 will be paid to the county for the same purposes.

Attached is a schedule of the new fees and another schedule that consolidates the new fees with other existing fees provided for in O.C.G.A. 15-6-77 (the schedule for fees for clerks of superior court and state court) will remain the same.

This office will provide a two-day grace period (May 13 and 14) during which we will accept civil filings under the old fee structure.  However, effective Monday, May 17, 2010, we will begin strictly enforcing the new provisions as required by statute.

Thank you for your cooperation.
